Below is what has proven to be most effective for me after using the gel strips three times in total, conducting research, and using trial and error.
- To ensure that there is no residue, wipe the alcohol prep pad over each nail.
- Pick a nail that is closest to the size of my natural nail bed.
- Peel the stickers off the plastic starting from the side that is opposite the cuticle (the plastic will tell you which side is the cuticle).
- Start at the center of the nail’s base and adhere the nail sticker there. I stretch the sticker so that it touches the side of my nail bed if its edges don’t quite touch. The sticker is stretchable and flexible because it hasn’t fully dried out yet.
- The best seal will be achieved if you go over the nail’s edges with the orangewood stick that is provided.
- Turning my hand over after application, I rough cut the excess sticker with nail clippers, being careful not to cut my natural nail if I want to keep it long (remember that these aren’t press-on nails; you’ll need your natural nail as the foundation). The stickers appear to shrink slightly during the curing process, so keep them around a little bit longer in this step.
