The most adaptable and enchanted piece of clothing a woman owns is probably a scarf.

The fabrics, hues, and patterns of scarves are as varied as the limits of the human imagination. Here are a few of our favorite head scarf tying techniques.

How to Tie a Head Scarf? 3 Fantastic Ways

Here are three ways to tie your head scarf.

1. The Slim Turban

The first style is probably the one I use the most. It’s a great way to add a little boho flair to your hairstyle with a scarf. Start by folding your silk scarf down the middle horizontally, reducing the scarf to half of its size.

Make sure that both sides of the scarf are equal before placing it at the back of your head and bringing it forward toward your face.

Join each side in front of your head and in the middle of your forehead, twist the scarf around itself twice, then bring both ends to the back of your head again and make a knot to secure everything in place.

Adjust the slim turban to your liking by tucking in any loose hair at the top of your head and tucking any loose ends from the knot back into the head wrap at the back of your head. I like to pull at either side to make my turban larger.

The result is a fun and casual bohemian slim turban, perfect for a music festival or a lazy summer day.

2. Bohemian Head Wrap

The second method of scarf tying is one that I use when I’m looking for more of an exotic look.

When you have fully opened the scarf, place one edge along your forehead and bring the other edge to the back of your head to completely envelop your head.

Make a knot at the back of your head by grabbing both ends with one hand and making sure that each end is even.

To make a big bow, take hold of that knot, move it to the side of your head.

For an even more relaxed appearance, I like to actually let out the bow on the side closest to my face. Adjust and enjoy!

3. Silk Scarf Headband

The third and final method of tying your silk scarf is a headband that I tend to use on those hot, humid days when your hair just isn’t co-operating. I’ve thrown my hair up in a messy bun because I think this look looks best when your hair is up.

Take your scarf and fold it horizontally twice, giving you a slim band to work with.

Bring both ends of the scarf down toward the nape of your neck and place the middle of it directly above your forehead.

Switch the ends in your hands and bring the scarf’s two ends back up to the top of your forehead once you’ve wrapped it around your head twice from the bottom.

Move both ends slightly off centre, tie a secure knot and then tie a bow. In order for the scarf’s ends to both stick downward, you will need to slightly adjust the bow. I also like to spread the scarf out a little on either side of my head to make it appear thicker.

Tips When Selecting Head Scarves for Tying

Selecting Prints: Numerous hues and designs are available in scarves. You can find scarves in solids, stripes, paisleys, nature scenes and just about anything else you can imagine. Observe the patterns you select. What looks good hanging on a rack might not be appropriate when tied around the head. All of our scarves are chosen for their patterns and sizes based on how they will appear when placed close to your face and on the head. When tied, our garments are made to fall in a flattering position.

Solid Scarves: The ability to combine or braid together solids when tied allows for the creation of truly distinctive looks. The ability to customize your look by painting, embellishing, or adding other finishing touches is another advantage of solid scarves.
