How to Make Shimmer Body Oil?
Making your own shimmer oil is super simple!
See the recipe down below!
What You’ll Need:
- Sweet almond Oil
- Jojoba Oil
- Coconut Oil
- Mica – we used bronze
- A 10 ml sample bottle of fragrance, which we used to smell like coconut, is ideal for this.
- An empty glass bottle (ours is 100ml)
Step by Step
- Make sure your glass bottle is completely dry and cleaned.
- At the top of your bottle, place a funnel.
- The funnel should contain 3 teaspoons of mica powder. Give it a good shake before putting it in the bottle and funnel.
- Pour 1 teaspoon of melted coconut oil into your funnel after it has warmed up in the microwave.
- To your funnel, add 50 ml of almond oil.
- Your funnel needs 25ml of jojoba oil.
- Less than 1.5% fragrance oil should be added in amounts of 10 to 20 drops.
- Shake vigorously.
Notes
Shake the container thoroughly before using as the mica will eventually sink to the bottom.
You can use a misting top (which could eventually clog), a pump, or a sizable roll-on bottle, depending on your preferences.
How to Apply Shimmer Oil?
This DIY shimmer oil recipe creates a wonderful shimmery glow that sparkles in the light. However, if you want coverage that can be built up, please see my recipe for shimmer body lotion.
Apply a few drops of the shimmer oil to your skin and rub it in until the oil is completely absorbed and your skin is covered in a fine layer of shimmer. Apply the shimmer oil with a brush and let it absorb for a more intense glow as opposed to massaging it in.
The shimmer pigment will naturally settle at the bottom of your container over time, ensure to shake well before use.
