One of the most traditional clothing items for women is the pencil skirt. But how should a pencil skirt fit? The solution can be found here!
Like most items of clothing, I find that my people (and the general public) are wearing their pencil skirts too big, basically rendering them incapable of asserting their figure-flattering and feminizing powers.
I would like to review how a pencil skirt should fit so that there is no confusion.
How Should a Pencil Skirt Fit?
Here are some tips on how should a pencil skirt fit.
The Waist
The waistline of your pencil skirt should sit at your natural waist, the narrowest part of your midsection, roughly 1-2 inches ABOVE your navel.
A pencil skirt should never go below the belly button, and it should never rest at the hips. It’s too big if this is happening!!
The Curves
Your body’s natural curves should be traced by the pencil skirt’s curves, giving the appearance of a feminine figure. When the skirt is following your leg, it should hug your hips and butt and slant in underneath both.
If your pencil skirt hangs in a straight line like dead weight from the outermost edges of your hips and butt, size down immediately!

The Length
The most traditional and universally flattering length for a pencil skirt is to skim the top of the knee. Women of different heights can technically wear pencil skirts of various lengths, but this is not the case in most cases.
No matter the situation or setting, you’ll be stylish!

Can I Let a Pencil Skirt Out?
In general, it’s preferable to take clothing in rather than let it out because many brands don’t leave enough seam allowance for alterations.
If you adore the skirt but it’s the last size and too tight, consider how much additional room you might need in the skirt, then turn it inside out and examine the seams.
You could safely take the skirt in along each seam line by half a centimeter since higher quality brands will typically have a 1.5 cm seam allowance on each seam. Significant downsizing is very risky, expensive, and frequently impossible.
If you’re unsure, it’s best to visit the tailor first and then purchase the fit a little bit larger.
