Antique Clothing

After Sybil has a range of Antique Clothes... essentially clothes dating pre-1920 are better described as antiques as opposed to vintage for a variety of reasons but namely because they are extremely delicate and precious. The materials involved are usually silks, satins, cottons and laces which are fine by nature but given their age they deserve some T.L.C.

I have collected These clothes for historical interest and to wonder at the construction techniques used and their sheer beauty. They will appeal to all to admire and to collectors to respect, they are for sale.

Museum and Collectables

A Victorian Dress dating from the 1900's owned by Lady Norah nee Hastings married to the Earl of Kilmorey, they lived at Mourne Park, Kilkeel, Co. Down, this is a black silk satin dress with typical high neckline, full sleeves and lace attached shawl. It is large insize indicating an older womans figure of that era and given its styling It would seem that this dress was her mourning dress. It is in excellent condition.

A Victorian black silk satin skirt with cream satin, lace & sequin inserts. This skirt has three layers and built in trailling at rear. The skirt comes with its matching bodice jacket which is an extraordinary and exquisite piece of work. The high gathered shoulders and sleeves are amazingly made with shaped elbows tapering to a mid forearm sleeve- length ornately decorated with layers of black and cream lace. The jacket is highly embellished with hanging sequine bobbins and tassels. Together this outfit indicates an evening entertainment costume and really gives a true feel for the poise and deportment this lady had and society expected.

Antique Wearables

French satin black full length double under- layered skirt with black lace trimmings and silk gathered under skirt hem-line. This is in excellent condition and is a stunning piece not out of place in a museum but I do feel for a special occassion and on the right girl she would treat with tender loving care this deserves to see more life.

After Sybil has a beautiful c.1910 lush black velvet and cream silk dress with dropped waist and tie back, to go with this is a black cloche hat with satin ribbon at back & marquiesite brooch.

Keeping with this style and era is a fabulous evening black velvet jacket with a-line skirt sleeves and cream silk lining.
